Global Workforce Inclusion at Qualcomm
Qualcomm Supports California's "No on Prop 8"
Proposition 8 is an initiative measure on the 2008 California General Election ballot that seeks to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry. Qualcomm recognizes and respects the strongly-held opinions that employees have on both sides of this issue. However, fundamental to Qualcomm is a firm belief in and support for non-discrimination and fairness in and out of the workplace. Along with companies who are opposed to Proposition 8 including Google, AT&T and others, we believe this is fundamentally an issue of equality. For these reasons, Qualcomm has made a financial contribution to the ‘No on Prop 8’ campaign. Throughout Qualcomm's history, we have maintained a long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion regardless of people’s backgrounds, lifestyles or perspectives. In fact, Qualcomm has always been a corporate leader in our support of equality issues – and was one of the first companies to offer same sex domestic partner benefits to its employees because we believe that no one group should be singled out or be treated differently. At the same time, the company respects the diverse political views of our employees and encourages you to express your view by voting on November 4.
