Creating platforms for quality communications through technological innovation has been the focus of Qualcomm since our founding in 1985. As the pioneer of code division multiple access CDMA digital wireless technology and one of the leading providers of wireless products and services for the third generation 3G and beyond, our vision through the years has been clear - to look past the immediate horizon and in so doing, anticipate and drive the future capabilities and uses of wireless technologies across the world.
Qualcomm was built on the commitment to improve the communities in which we work and live. Our belief is that building strong shareholder value requires more than making a profit - it requires making a significant commitment to our global community. It is not only the global nature of our business that requires that Qualcomm be a responsible corporate citizen, but our employees are motivated, as individuals, by the fact that our efforts and ideas can change the world for the better.

In 2005, Qualcomm launched Wireless Reach as a pilot project. In October 2006, Wireless Reach grew into a global initiative to empower underserved communities through the use of 3G wireless technologies. The objective of this program is to use 3G to strengthen economic and social development with a focus on education, entrepreneurship, health care, the environment and public safety. Wireless Reach achieves this by creating sustainable 3G projects through partnerships with non-governmental organizations, universities, government institutions, development agencies and other private sector companies.
